Hindalco Industries Ltd on Thursday said a fire broke out at its Novelis plant in Oswego, New York, on September 16, 2025, at around 10 p.m. (EDT), corresponding to 7:30 a.m. (IST) on September 17. The incident was reported to the company later that evening at 10:05 p.m. (IST).
According to the company, the fire was largely brought under control by around 2 a.m. (EDT) on September 17 and no injuries were reported during the incident or the firefighting efforts. Production at the facility has been temporarily halted as an investigation into the cause of the fire and assessment of its operational impact is underway.
Hindalco added that the plant is insured for property damage and business interruption losses, subject to applicable deductibles and policy limits. The company said it will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
