EPFO Reports Record Net Addition of 21.9 Lakh Members in June 2025

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) registered its highest-ever net member addition in June 2025, with 21.89 lakh members joining, according to provisional payroll data released on Wednesday. This marks the biggest increase since the payroll data series began in April 2018 and reflects a 9.14% rise over May 2025.

On a year-on-year basis, net payroll additions grew 13.46% compared to June 2024, indicating improved job opportunities and higher awareness of social security benefits.

Key Highlights

New Subscribers: Around 10.62 lakh new subscribers were added in June 2025, up 12.68% month-on-month and 3.61% year-on-year.

Youth Dominance: The 18–25 age group accounted for 6.39 lakh new subscribers (60.22% of the total). Net payroll additions for this group stood at 9.72 lakh, reflecting strong participation from first-time job seekers.

Rejoined Members: About 16.93 lakh members rejoined EPFO during the month, rising 5.09% over May 2025 and 19.65% over June 2024, mainly due to job changes.

Female Workforce: New female subscribers stood at 3.02 lakh, up 14.92% month-on-month. Net female additions rose to 4.72 lakh, showing an annual growth of 10.29%.

State Trends: Maharashtra led with 20.03% of total net additions. Together, the top five states—Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Haryana—contributed 61.51% of the total.

Industry Trends: The bulk of additions came from expert services (42.14%), with manpower suppliers accounting for over half of this category.

EPFO noted that the data is provisional, as member records undergo continuous updates due to late filings, modifications, or exit date adjustments.
