Indian benchmark indices, the BSE Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open on a cautious to slightly negative note on June 4, taking cues from subdued trends in GIFT Nifty, which was trading nearly flat around the 23,328 level in early trade.

In the previous session, domestic equities witnessed heightened volatility and ended lower, giving up the gains recorded a day earlier. The Nifty 50 briefly slipped below the 23,200 mark as rising crude oil prices and lingering uncertainty over a possible U.S.-Iran peace agreement weighed on investor sentiment. Market participants are likely to remain focused on global developments, crude oil movement, and foreign fund activity for further direction.

On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 74346.17 down by -303.67 points or by -0.41 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23405.6 down by -77.95 points or by -0.33 %.

On the global front, Asia-Pacific markets logged losses in early trade on Thursday as a new flare-up between the US and Iran fanned worries about the outlook for growth and inflation. The Nikkei 225 and the Kospi were trading 1.67 per cent and 1.63 per cent down, respectively.

Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 ended 1.21 per cent and 0.74 per cent down, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite settled 0.89 per cent.

The FIIs on 03/06/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 17529.44 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 146.38 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 25538.47 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 75.49 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -8009.03 Crore and Rs. 70.89
