Indian benchmarks extended gains during the morning session, with trading above the 83450 mark led by a rise in IT stocks. In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap index erased losses to trade 0.07 per cent higher. The Nifty SmallCap index, too, advanced 0.37 per cent.

On the corporate front, share price of SML Mahindra hit a new high of ₹5,110, soaring 5 per cent on the BSE. Infosys share price was in focus on Tuesday. The IT stock is trading near the day's high level, up 2.7 per cent on the BSE.

At 10:27 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 83477.86 up by 200.71 points or by 0.24 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25679.25 down by -3.5 points or by -0.01 %.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1405.20,+2.85%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 325.30,+2.31%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2439.70,+1.79%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1487.95,+1.71%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 444.35,+1.44%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kwality Wall's '(India) Ltd. (Rs. 28.04,-4.98%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 280.05,-2.10%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 203.30,-1.19%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3474.20,-1.00%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1423.25,-0.92%), among others.

Among the sectors, IT index was at 32205.44 up by 588.92 points or by 1.86%. Newgen Software Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 503.00,+8.70%), Ksolves India Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3916 , shares advanced were 2440 while 1254 shares declined and 222 were unchanged.
