Indices continue to trade lower; Tata Elxsi down 8%

Indian benchmarks were trading lower on Friday as U.S. President Donald Trump pushed through with his tariff agenda, fueling uncertainties around the global tariff war.

Among sectors, except FMCG, pharma, all other sectoral indices are trading in the red with IT, media, oil & gas, telecom down 1 percent each.

On the corporate front, RPP Infra Projects shares surged on Friday, hitting the 5 per cent upper circuit, after the company secured a ₹365.85 crore order under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

At 11:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82555.55 down by -634.73 points or by -0.76 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25168.95 down by -186.3 points or by -0.73 %.

In the volatile trade so-far, Sensex touched intraday high of 83040.74 and intraday low of 82487.42 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25322.45 and intraday low of 25149.25.

Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2519.35,+4.58%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2422.45,+0.89%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12599.00,+0.77%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1172.25,+0.67%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2466.00,+0.62%), were among the gainers.

Whereas, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3291.00,-2.70%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1923.00,-2.14%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3096.00,-2.08%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2005.50,-1.65%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1636.55,-1.61%), were among the losers on the BSE.

Among the sectors, FMCG index was at 20618.5 up by 138.24 points or by 0.67%. Cupid Ltd. (Rs. 117.60,+7.40%), Globus Spirits Ltd. (Rs. 1013.50,+5.51%), VST Industries Ltd. (Rs. 295.30,+5.11%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2516.00,+4.44%), Gillette India Ltd. (Rs. 10822.70,+3.45%),.

On the flip side, BSETECk index was at 18104.35 down by -327.59 points or by -1.78%. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 137.00,-3.45%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3292.30,-2.66%), Tata Elxsi Ltd. (Rs. 5982.00,-2.57%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 258.65,-2.43%), PVR INOX Ltd. (Rs. 989.50,-2.20%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4072 , shares advanced were 1436 while 2406 shares declined and 230 were unchanged.
