Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open on a positive note today, taking cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 25,163.50 earlier this morning.

Market sentiment is likely to be shaped by developments around the Iran-Israel conflict, U.S. Fed commentary, primary market activity, institutional flows, and positive global cues.

On Tuesday, benchmark indices ended in the green, with the Sensex gaining 158 points and the Nifty closing above the 25,000 mark. Adani Ports, Tata Steel, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Ultratech Cement were among the top gainers.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 82055.11 up by 158.32 points or by 0.19 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25044.35 up by 72.45 points or by 0.29 %.

On the global front, Asian markets opened on a cautious note as the Israel-Iran truce appeared to hold and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell gave balanced comments on prospects for rate cuts. Nikkei was up 0.073 per cent, while broader Topix slipped 0.1 per cent.

The ASX 200 and Kospi were trading flat with negative biases.

On Wall Street, major indexes rallied overnight. The Dow Jones jumped 1.19 per cent to 43,089.02. The S&P 500 rose 1.11 per cent to 6,092.18—just 0.9 per cent below its 52-week high—while the Nasdaq Composite gained 1.43 per cent to 19,912.53. The Nasdaq 100 hit a record close, climbing 1.53 per cent to 22,190.52.
