Mid-Session: Markets surge over 1% amid sharp rally in global peers

Stock market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty bounced back sharply on Tuesday, climbing over 1 per cent, mirroring a rally in global peers and drop in Brent crude oil prices amid hopes of a potential de-escalation in the Middle East conflict.

At 12:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82916.6 up by 1019.81 points or by 1.25 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25293.9 up by 322 points or by 1.29 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 83018.16 and intraday low of 82360.04 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25317.7 and intraday low of 25118.5

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1405.70,+3.80%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11790.55,+3.01%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 156.40,+2.59%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3674.85,+2.55%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3204.45,+2.24%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 329.95,-1.12%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 835.00,-0.64%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 289.40,-0.31%), among others.

Metal index was at 31138.67 up by 522.23 points or by 1.71%. Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 132.25,+4.63%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 69.96,+2.87%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 156.40,+2.59%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 931.50,+2.22%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1015.40,+1.90%),.

Oil&Gas index was at 27256.98 down by 122.97 points or by 0.45%. Oil India Ltd. (Rs. 450.40,-4.63%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 244.85,-2.57%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4129 , shares advanced were 2922 while 1018 shares declined and 189 were unchanged.
