Indian equity benchmark indices BSE Sensex and Nifty50 opened lower on Wednesday, as investors awaited the US Federal Reserve's policy decision announcement later in the day.

At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 83106.08 up by 26.42 points or by 0.03 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25399.15 down by -19.4 points or by -0.08 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 83135.95 and intraday low of 82949.42 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25418.15 and intraday low of 25380.8

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 7500.00,+1.85%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 2812.00,+0.85%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 511.75,+0.85%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11745.25,+0.82%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1681.60,+0.77%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1606.35,-2.73%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1903.75,-2.50%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 4400.00,-2.30%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1785.65,-1.49%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 3300.00,-0.38%), among others.
