Equity benchmark indices started the day on a positive note on Friday tracking strength in global markets after the US Senate passed the debt ceiling bill with a wide margin, putting worries of a debt default to rest.

At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 62642.11 up by 213.57 points or by 0.34 % and then NSE Nifty was at 18551.85 up by 64.1 points or by 0.35 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 62719.84 and intraday low of 62582.25 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 18573.7 and intraday low of 18540.7

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 7927.60,+1.08%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2725.15,+1.02%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1948.00,+1.01%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 107.00,+0.99%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 443.55,+0.85%), among others.
