Positive start is likely for equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty on Friday following firm domestic and global cues.

A robust set of economic data for May including the GST collection, manufacturing PMI and passenger auto sales could lend strength to equities.

Further, stocks that will be in focus today include Adani Enterprises as an agreement between its arm Adani Roads to acquire the road portfolio from Macquarie Asia Infrastructure Fund (MAIF) for Rs 3,110 crore has been terminated by the Adani group.

Coal India will be watched as the government will exercise the greenshoe option in the OFS to offload another 9.24 crore shares on the second day after the issue was subscribed 3.46 times on the first day.

On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 62428.54 down by -193.7 points or by -0.31 % and then NSE Nifty was at 18487.75 down by -46.65 points or by -0.25 %.

On the global front, the US Senate is preparing to vote on the debt ceiling bill this morning. Asian equities marched forward with Nikkei, Hang Seng, Strait times and Kospi rising 0.2-2 per cent.

Overnight in the US, the Dow ended 0.5 per cent up. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite surged 1 per cent each. Both the indices closed at their highest levels since August 2022.

Investors are now looking towards the crucial May jobs report, which could prove to be pivotal for the US Fed's rate hike decision on June 14.
