Mid-Session: Sensex, Nifty hold slim gains; auto stocks in focus

Domestic bourses continued to trade flat with positive bias during the noon trading session. On the economic front, India's manufacturing sector expanded at its fastest pace in 31 months in May, as new orders and output grew at a faster pace, a private survey showed on Friday.

The S&P Global India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) rose to 58.7 in May from 57.2 in April, marking the highest reading since March 2021. A reading above 50 indicates expansion, while a reading below 50 indicates contraction.

At 12:25 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 62668.96 up by 46.72 points or by 0.07 % and then NSE Nifty was at 18537.3 up by 2.9 points or by 0.02 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 62762.41 and intraday low of 62526.18 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 18580.3 and intraday low of 18514.4

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2707.40,+1.75%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 927.00,+1.34%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3331.75,+1.24%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 3232.40,+1.07%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1332.05,+1.04%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 824.75,-3.81%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1938.25,-2.83%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 441.10,-0.94%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 9310.10,-0.51%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 173.30,-0.37%), among others.

Realty index was at 3887.78 up by 54.62 points or by 1.42%. Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 561.55,+7.92%), Macrotech Developers Ltd. (Rs. 563.85,+3.52%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 1518.80,+3.26%), Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 68.36,+1.79%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1412.90,+1.70%),.

Metal index was at 19401.73 down by -140.96 points or by -0.72%. Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 229.55,-4.83%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 511.45,-1.22%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 83.29,-0.61%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 692.50,-0.57%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 82.30,-0.24%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3707 , shares advanced were 2287 while 1234 shares declined and 186 were unchanged.
