The market is likely to open marginally lower on Thursday as the SGX Nifty signals a negative start for the broader index, with a loss of 76.5 points after opening the session at 18,589. SGX futures touched a high of 18,696 in early trade on June 1.

D-Street investors will digest a slew of macro economic data today on June 1. India’s economic growth shot up by 6.1 per cent in the March quarter of FY23, beating analysts’ expectations, as the expansion in manufacturing and construction surprised on the upside.

Meanwhile, the core sector output growth slowed to a six-month low at 3.5 per cent in April, with the production of natural gas and refinery products slipping for the first time in five months.

Besides, among stocks, Adani Green will be eyed on reports that it is likely to seek fund raising up to $1 billion in the next couple of weeks. Coal India will also be on radar as the government will sell up to 3 per cent of its stake in the company through the OFS route from June 1.

On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 62622.24 down by -346.89 points or by -0.55 % and then NSE Nifty was at 18534.4 down by -99.45 points or by -0.53 %.

On the global front, Asian markets were mostly higher this morning with Nikkei, Hang Seng rising up to 0.8 per cent. Strait times rose 0.5 per cent while Kospi fell 0.23 per cent.

Overnight in the US, the S&P 500 fell 0.61 per cent, the Dow shed 0.41 per cent and the Nasdaq lost 0.63 per cent.
