The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW), under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, organised a mega camp in collaboration with the State Bank of India (SBI) at the NDCC Convention Centre, New Delhi, on November 2, 2026, as part of the Nationwide Digital Life Certificate (DLC) Campaign 5.
The initiative aimed to facilitate the submission of digital life certificates through technology-driven and accessible services for pensioners and senior citizens.
Addressing the gathering, DoPPW Secretary Nivedita Shukla Verma highlighted that digital empowerment of pensioners is an important part of the government's Ease of Living initiative. She noted that face authentication technology allows pensioners to generate digital life certificates independently through smartphones, eliminating the need to visit banks or government offices.
She also acknowledged SBI's contribution to the initiative, stating that the bank had facilitated around 25 lakh digital life certificates during the previous year's campaign.
Under the current campaign, SBI is organising special digital life certificate camps across 115 cities and providing assistance through its branches and dedicated support teams. The bank has also introduced special arrangements at branches with a significant pensioner population.
Joint Secretary, DoPPW, Dhrubajyoti Sengupta, urged pensioners to utilise the facilities offered under the campaign and encourage others to adopt digital services to support a more accessible, transparent and citizen-centric pension delivery system.
