Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MapmyIndia Mappls to integrate official Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) information into the Mappls App, enabling commuters to access metro-related details and plan their journeys more conveniently.
The integration will allow users to locate metro stations, explore routes and interchange points, check fares and train frequencies, and plan end-to-end journeys from their starting point to their destination. The initiative aims to simplify travel for daily commuters, residents, visitors and tourists by making essential metro information available on a single digital platform.
Speaking on the partnership, MMRCL Director (Planning & Real Estate/NFBR) R. Ramana said the initiative would improve accessibility and convenience by helping passengers navigate the Aqua Line network and plan their trips more efficiently. He added that the collaboration marks another step towards a technology-driven and seamless metro travel experience in Mumbai.
MapmyIndia Mappls Joint Managing Director Rohan Verma said the partnership would make official metro information more accessible to commuters and visitors. Starting with the Aqua Line, the app will serve as a metro guide, supporting informed travel decisions through reliable information and indigenous mapping technology.
According to the companies, the integration will make Mumbai Metro Line 3 information available to more than 45 million Mappls App users. Key features will include geotagged station locations and facilities such as parking, metro network details and line changes, train frequencies, fare information, and the number of stations and lines.
The Mappls App is an indigenous maps and navigation platform that also offers live traffic information, route planning, road safety alerts, trip cost estimates and detailed address navigation. Its additional features include Mappls Pin, a six-character digital location code designed to simplify address sharing and enable precise destination navigation.
The collaboration brings together MMRCL's official metro data and MapmyIndia's mapping and location technology, with the aim of improving access to public transport information and supporting smarter urban mobility in Mumbai.
