Engineers India Limited (EIL) has secured a contract worth more than US$450 million from Nigeria-based Dangote Group to serve as the Project Management Consultant (PMC) and EPCM Consultant for a proposed greenfield refinery and petrochemical complex in Kenya.

The project will include a 700,000 barrels-per-day (BPD) refinery, designed to process a wider range of crude and meet growing energy demand across East Africa.

EIL has previously worked with the Dangote Group as PMC and EPCM consultant for its 650,000 BPD integrated refinery and petrochemical complex at Lekki Free Zone in Nigeria, which is currently being expanded to 1.4 million BPD.

The Kenya project is expected to strengthen regional fuel production, reduce dependence on petroleum imports and support energy security across East Africa, while also supplying petroleum products to international markets.

The contract further expands EIL's partnership with Dangote and builds on its experience in executing large-scale projects across oil and gas, refining, petrochemicals and other energy sectors.

EIL said it will leverage its multidisciplinary expertise and global project execution capabilities to support the development of the integrated energy complex in Kenya.
