Tata Chemicals on Friday said it remains committed to resolving outstanding issues in Kenya, following reports that the company has been asked to shut down its operations in the country.
The company said it has played an important role in Kenya's economy. Tata Chemicals has a presence in the country through its subsidiary Tata Chemicals Magadi Ltd, which is Africa's largest soda ash manufacturer.
On Thursday, Kenya President William Ruto reportedly directed Tata Chemicals, a Tata Group company, to cease its operations in the country, stating that Kenyan citizens had not benefited from them.
