IndiGo has announced that Willie Walsh has officially taken charge as its Chief Executive Officer, marking the beginning of the airline's next phase of growth and international expansion. His appointment was first announced in March 2026.
Walsh brings over four decades of global aviation experience, having previously served as CEO of British Airways, CEO of International Airlines Group (IAG), and Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
As CEO, Walsh will lead IndiGo's overall strategy with a focus on accelerating international expansion, driving operational excellence, strengthening network and commercial strategy, and enhancing customer experience. The airline said his leadership will support IndiGo's ambition to strengthen its position as a leading global carrier while capitalising on the rapid growth of India's aviation market.
