L&T secures LNTP for 1,600 MW NTPC Thermal Power Project

L&T Energy CarbonLite Solutions has received a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) from NTPC Ltd for the main plant package of the 2x800 MW Lara Stage-III thermal power project in Chhattisgarh. The formal Notice to Proceed will be issued after the project obtains environmental clearance and the LNTP period concludes.

The project involves the construction of two ultra-supercritical 800 MW generating units. L&T's scope includes the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of key equipment such as boilers, steam turbines, generators, electrostatic precipitators, air-cooled condensers, along with associated mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and civil works on an EPC basis.

Once operational, the plant will add 1,600 MW of reliable power generation capacity to India's grid, supporting the country's growing electricity demand while leveraging ultra-supercritical technology to improve efficiency and reduce emissions.

Commenting on the order, T. Madhava Das, Whole-time Director and Head of L&T's Energy Hydrocarbon Division, said the award marks the company's third ultra-supercritical project from NTPC in the last two years, reflecting NTPC's continued confidence in L&T's engineering, manufacturing, and project execution capabilities. He added that the company remains committed to delivering the project with the highest standards of quality, safety, and operational excellence.
