Maruti Suzuki dispatches Record 5.85 Lakh Vehicles via Rail in 2025

Maruti Suzuki India on Monday said it dispatched over 5.85 lakh vehicles through railways in 2025, marking an 18 per cent year-on-year increase compared with 2024.

The country’s largest carmaker said the share of rail transport in its outbound logistics has grown sharply over the years, rising from 5.1 per cent in 2016 to 26 per cent in 2025. The shift has helped reduce carbon emissions, lower dependence on oil imports, and ease congestion on roads.

Commenting on the development, Hisashi Takeuchi said the company strengthened its green logistics initiatives during the year through two key milestones. These included the inauguration of India’s largest automobile in-plant railway siding at its Manesar facility and the dispatch of vehicles by rail to the Kashmir Valley via the world’s highest railway arch bridge over the Chenab river—an industry first for an automobile manufacturer.

The company said its continued focus on rail-based logistics is part of its broader sustainability and efficiency strategy.
