Ola Electric, India’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced its entry into the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) segment with the launch of ‘Ola Shakti’, the company’s first residential energy storage solution.
Marking Ola’s diversification beyond mobility, Ola Shakti is designed as a portable, on-demand energy resource for homes, farms, and businesses, leveraging the company’s indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell technology produced at the Ola Gigafactory. Ola expects its annual BESS capacity to scale up to 5 GWh in the next few years.
“India doesn’t face an energy shortage—it faces an energy storage opportunity,” said Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director, Ola Electric. “With Ola Shakti, we’re turning that opportunity into energy independence. It’s a natural next step, extending our world-class cell technology and manufacturing capabilities to home energy storage.”
Ola Shakti features automotive-grade safety, 98% efficiency, zero maintenance costs, and instant 0 ms changeover time. It operates across a wide voltage range (120V–290V), protecting appliances from fluctuations, and carries IP67-rated weatherproofing for Indian conditions.
The modular system allows easy stacking, scalability, and installation, with smart features such as real-time monitoring, Time-of-Day scheduling, intelligent backup prioritisation, OTA updates, and remote diagnostics—turning energy management into an intelligent, automated experience.
Ola Shakti will be available in four configurations:
1kW/1.5kWh – Rs 29,999
1kW/3kWh – Rs 55,999
3kW/5.2kWh – Rs 1,19,999
6kW/9.1kWh – Rs 1,59,999
The system can power air conditioners, refrigerators, farm pumps, induction cookers, and communication devices, with fast charging (as low as 2 hours) and up to 1.5 hours of full-load backup.
Customers can reserve Ola Shakti for Rs 999 on the Ola Electric website or at Ola stores, with deliveries commencing on Makar Sankranti 2026.
