Bajaj Electricals Limited (BEL), a leading name in lighting solutions and home appliances, has entered into a strategic collaboration with the TIH Foundation for IoT & IoE at IIT Bombay to co-develop innovative smart lighting systems under the “Smart Streetlight Control” project.
This partnership combines Bajaj Electricals’ leadership in large-scale lighting deployments with TIH’s research expertise in electronics, network communication, and AI/ML technologies. Together, they aim to design intelligent, energy-efficient lighting ecosystems that contribute to India’s Smart City mission, aligning with Digital India and Make in India initiatives.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at Bajaj Electricals’ R&D Centre in Mumbai, in the presence of senior leadership from both organisations, including Mr. Rajesh Naik (COO – Bajaj Lighting Solutions), Mr. Anand Joshi (CTO & Head – R&D, Bajaj Electricals), Mr. Yogesh Jagtap (IoT Vertical Head – R&D, Bajaj Electricals), Mr. Kiran Shesh (CEO, TIH Foundation), Dr. Prasad Ramanathan (CTO, TIH), and Dr. Ashwini Gajarushi (Engineering Manager, TIH).
In the first phase, the partnership will focus on developing AI-based lighting solutions that enhance energy optimisation, operational efficiency, and reliability. Future phases aim to expand the collaboration to broader smart infrastructure challenges across urban India.
