SpiceJet receives First Batch of Overhauled Engines from StandardAero

SpiceJet has received the first two overhauled engines as part of its comprehensive fleet revival program, marking a key milestone in enhancing its operational capacity. The engines were refurbished by global MRO provider StandardAero, with a CFM LEAP-1B engine—used on the Boeing 737 MAX—overhauled at StandardAero’s Houston facility in the US, and a Q400 engine serviced at its Singapore facility.

This development comes alongside the successful reactivation of a Boeing 737 NG aircraft, which returned to service last month. The move underlines the airline’s structured and phased approach to restoring its grounded fleet.

Under the revival initiative, SpiceJet had sent a total of 17 engines for overhaul. With the first two now back in operation, the airline anticipates a steady return of additional engines in the coming months. Specifically, six LEAP-1B engines were sent to Houston and seven Q400 engines to Singapore. Additionally, four engines were sent to Carlyle Aviation to aid in bringing more Boeing 737 NG aircraft back into service.

SpiceJet’s ongoing efforts reflect its commitment to bolstering operational efficiency and increasing aircraft availability across its network.
