Kings Infra hails RBI’s Rs 10 lakh crore credit unlock as key boost to blue economy

Kings Infra Ventures Ltd. has welcomed the Reserve Bank of India’s recent policy reform reducing provisioning norms for infrastructure lending, calling it a transformative move that quietly unlocks over Rs 10 lakh crore in credit for future-focused sectors. This shift is seen as a timely enabler for India's infrastructure ambitions, especially in emerging areas like nutritional infrastructure, which aim to build clean, sustainable, and traceable food systems.

As a prominent player in land-based aquaculture and seafood supply chains, Kings Infra is poised to benefit significantly from this development. Chairman Mr. Shaji Baby John described the reform as a “silent catalyst,” emphasizing that it provides the company with the financial flexibility to accelerate aquaculture infrastructure projects, maximize value from land assets, and play a vital role in advancing India’s Blue Economy and food security objectives.

Through its subsidiary, Kings Maritech Eco Parks Ltd. (KMEPL), the company is developing large-scale aquaculture clusters aligned with ESG principles. These integrated facilities will include hatcheries, precision farming units, cold-chain logistics, and export hubs across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka.

The RBI’s decision to reduce provisioning for under-construction infrastructure from 5% to 1% is expected to free up capital for faster implementation of sustainable infrastructure, enhance the viability of greenfield aquaculture and logistics ventures, and accelerate the monetization of Kings Infra’s extensive coastal land holdings.

This reform also supports Kings Infra’s long-term strategy of transforming underutilized coastal lands into productive assets that contribute to clean protein exports, climate-resilient farming, rural employment, and nutritional self-sufficiency. As India advances its Rs 1.4 trillion National Infrastructure Pipeline, the increased availability of credit ensures that blue economy sectors — including mariculture, clean aquaculture, and traceable seafood exports — receive the investment support needed for growth.

Kings Infra is currently in active discussions with institutional investors, sustainability-focused funds, and strategic partners to co-develop the next generation of aquaculture infrastructure in alignment with these national priorities.
