Cosmo First Begins Commercial Production of Sunshield Window Films

Cosmo First Ltd., a global leader in packaging and specialty chemicals, has officially commenced commercial production of its newly developed window films under the Cosmo Sunshield brand, following successful market trials. Leveraging over 40 years of experience in film manufacturing, strong R&D capabilities, and advanced production infrastructure, the company has introduced a premium range of automotive and architectural window films designed to deliver superior solar protection, energy efficiency, and enhanced aesthetics.

Cosmo Sunshield films incorporate advanced nanotechnology that filters sunlight effectively—blocking over 99% of harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays and up to 90% of infrared (IR) radiation, while still allowing natural light into interiors. This helps to significantly reduce indoor heat gain—responsible for nearly 30% of unwanted heat—lowering air-conditioning use and electricity bills by up to 20%, while also protecting interior furnishings from fading and sun damage.

The product range includes high-performance heat rejection films that maintain brightness without compromising on comfort, alongside safety and privacy variants that provide shatter resistance and varying levels of visibility. These versatile glass films are available in multiple shades and styles and are tailored for residential, commercial, and automotive applications across India and global markets, including Asia Pacific, Europe, the Americas, Africa, and the Middle East.

Cosmo First’s innovation engine is powered by its world-class R&D centre, staffed by a team of over 30 scientists and technologists with multiple patents in specialty films. “With increasing heatwaves and rising energy consumption, it's time for bold action,” said Mr. Pankaj Poddar, Group CEO of Cosmo First. “Cosmo Sunshield is more than just a product—it’s a solution to today’s climate and energy challenges. As India pushes forward on its sustainability path, we aim to contribute meaningfully through smart, future-ready technologies.”

The global window film market is projected to grow to $3.99 billion by 2032, driven by the demand for energy-saving solutions, green building practices, and rising awareness about UV protection. Cosmo Sunshield already offers over 100 specialized film options—including decorative, shatter-resistant, and multi-color varieties—catering to diverse customer needs.

With an estimated payback period of 2 to 5 years, Cosmo Sunshield window films represent a strategic investment for customers seeking to reduce energy use and environmental impact, while improving comfort and protection in everyday spaces.
