Post-Session: Sensex, Nifty end in red ahead of Fed outcome

Benchmark equity indices, the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50, retreated from record high levels to settle in the red on Wednesday, ahead of the US Fed policy decision scheduled to be announced later in the day.

As many as 33 constituent stocks on the Nifty50 ended in the red, dragged by TCS, Infosys, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro, with a fall of up to 3.50 per cent. Conversely, Shriram Finance, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Nestle India, and HDFC Bank were among the 19 Nifty50 stocks that ended higher, with gains of up to 4.22 per cent on Wednesday.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 82948.23 down by -131.43 points or by -0.16 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25377.55 down by -41 points or by -0.16 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 83326.38 and intraday low of 82700.63 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25482.2 and intraday low of 25285.55

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 7632.25,+3.65%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1887.50,+2.11%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2586.80,+1.61%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1288.05,+1.55%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1694.35,+1.54%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 4346.60,-3.49%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1755.65,-3.15%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1892.35,-3.09%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1605.35,-2.79%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1832.50,-1.79%), among others.

Bankex index was at 59815.36 up by 561.86 points or by 0.95%. ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1288.05,+1.55%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1694.35,+1.54%), State Bank of India (Rs. 792.35,+1.19%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1479.60,+0.83%), Federal Bank Ltd. (Rs. 185.80,+0.81%),.

IT index was at 42645.2 down by -1316.88 points or by -3%. Oracle Financial Services Software Ltd. (Rs. 11250.80,-8.31%), MphasiS Ltd. (Rs. 3007.05,-5.37%), Zaggle Prepaid Ocean Services Ltd. (Rs. 448.25,-4.34%), Nelco Ltd. (Rs. 1104.45,-4.02%), Cyient Ltd. (Rs. 2052.80,-3.78%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4301 , shares advanced were 1621 while 2550 shares declined and 130 were unchanged.
